Eden of the east, a excellent anime which show cases the struggles of 12 people who are armed with special phones which with the use of 10 billion yen are told to make the country of Japan better or face death in a deadly twisted game.
The anime of this series does a great job of setting up a enticing story full of great characters and showing how number nine of the 12 people goes about his way of saving japan in a wacky goofy way. The anime introduces a good amount of the 12 people but not all before a cliff hanger ends the anime series which leaves the story to be completed in two movies, The king of eden and Paradise lost.
With the great build up the anime gave, the movies sadly disappointed me very greatly. Most of the first part of the movie bored me greatly with it's plot and things really didn't pick up till the end and then you had to get the second movie to see how it ends. The second movie was a bit better but still did not have the greatness the anime series and expressing.
I will say the movies and how they ended was good for the story, but I felt it could have been a whole lot more and yet in the end I didn't think anything got solved and left a lot of questions unanswered. If you plan to check out this series, make sure you don't pay anything for the movies as I think another 12 episode anime could have ended things much better and at a better pace.
Even though the plot doesn't hold up, the animation used through out the anime and movies is very unique and well done, a huge plus for the series if nothing else. Music and other things is decent but nothing out standing.
I hope this series is rebooted a few years from now and given a better plot that makes better use of all the ideas set up for this anime.
