Here one day and gone the next as they say.

With no public announcement or advanced warning to many creators, the entire Machinima Youtube channel, which hosts such shows as Machinima, Happy Hour, Respawn, Realm, Prime, Inside Gaming, ETC, BFF and more was effectively wiped from the internet recently. All videos on the channel are now private, making them unable to view. The news quickly spread across social media, with fans and creators sharing their stories and information about the shutdown using the hashtag #RIPMachinima.

News of the videos began to spread yesterday, but it’s unclear when the switch to private happened. Many creators seemed not to have been aware that their videos would be set to private. “Otter Media really just went and deleted Machinima, Happy Hour, Respawn, Realm, Prime, Inside Gaming, ETC, everything.” Jeremy Azevedo, a former creator and employee of Machinima tweeted after learning about the news. Other former creators were shocked to find years of videos now gone.

Otter Media had the following to say given the growing news stories:

We are focused on creating new content with the Machinima team, which will be distributed on new channels to be announced in the coming months.

In the meantime the Machinima network of creator channels continues to showcase the talents of the network. As part of this focus on new content, we have pivoted from distributing content on a handful of legacy operated channels.

This is unexpected. Hopefully, some of the better private videos will be set to public, or be re-uploaded to other YouTube channels, so people can still enjoy them.

the more animated stuff or shorts you can find else where on fan's channels. But stuff like ETC and Inside Gaming are most likely gone forever, besides those who downloaded the videos.

I think there is a chance that some videos from ETC and Inside Gaming will comeback, but there would be a lot of ads on them, or the videos will be re-uploaded with those non-skipable ads which the creator recorded to the intro and ending of the video by using a video editor to paste an ad to the beginning and end of the video.

ETC and Inside Gaming maybe allowed to re-upload their old videos to other channels if the video creator own the copyrights for the video.

Update with unfortunate news:

Variety reported on Friday that Machinima has laid off 81 staff members from its team of around 100 employees. The Hollywood Reporter likewise reported on Friday that the media company is ceasing operations.

The layoffs reportedly took place two weeks ago, and the employees' termination date will be March 16, as per a California law that requires 60 days notice for mass layoffs.

This is unfortunate.

I wonder if laid off employees are allowed to re-upload their old Machinama videos which they made for Machinima to their own personal YouTube channels now that Machinima is gone.

perhaps under a fake account and VPN usage.

Fake account and a VPN would be a good idea.

I wonder would there be a copyright company who go after old employees for uploading old Machinama videos now that Machinama no longer exists.

So interesting update, looks like the main company owner of Rooster Teeth merged all this with their stuff, meaning they are back!

That is good. Now people can now view older gaming videos of old games which may not be streamed on Twitch or uploaded to YouTube as often if the game is no longer popular.
