This is almost hilarious (from the PEGI website for UK/European age ratings)

Mario Bros: 3+

Super Mario 64: 3+

Super Mario Galaxy/Galaxy 2: 3+

Every Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi game: 3+

Heck, every Mario spinoff in general: 3+

But then...

Huh?

Apparently you have to be seven years old to buy Super Mario Bros 1 because it's too scary. Yes, this is terrifying to some young kids:

Meanwhile, this? Oh, that's okay for 3 years:

Heck, also rated as more appropriate for toddlers than Super Mario Bros 1:

and this:

as is this:

Not that any of this is scary to anyone over the age of about 7, but come on, apparently eight bit graphics are supposed to terrify people more than some of the stuff in Donkey Kong 64? Eight bit Mario is SCARY!

Anyone find this quite amusing/odd?

How is Super Mario Bros. 1 scary? If you want scary try Resident Evil Revelations.

It's not scary. It just has violence that is set in a cartoon. Um, have they PLAYED Mario Galaxy at all? Pretty sure smacking Bowser into a galaxy reactor is violence, not to mention all those Goombas that get squashed along the way.

And Mario Sunshine? VIOLENCE HAS A NEW WEAPON: A WATER PACK.

That's a good point. Cartoon violence is the most pathetic thing to warn about ever.

Really, does anything made for people over 2 years old not have any violence/slapstick/cartoon violence/whatever at all?

In Mario Sunshine, when you squirt certain enemies into a wall, what looks like blood squirts out of them onto the wall O.o
That's much more violent than jumping on a goomba
