Hi!

I ran into my first 'you're out of blocks' notification today (or however it goes). I'm having a lot of trouble to get the SD card working - are games supposed to be able to both be stored on and run from the SD card? When I try copying DSiWare games to the SD card in Data Management, it says they won't be able to run, and there doesn't seem to be an option to for 3DS eShop games to copy onto the SD card at all.

Unless I've overlooked something MAJOR (in which case, I'll slap myself), how can you even play retail digital games from the system memory, which barely has any storage space at all .___.

Any help GREATLY appreciated

I run a 16g(ig) SDHC Class 4, formatted as FAT32, SD card and I have had no problems with it.

First off, make sure your SD card is formatted as FAT32. The DS doesn't like to exchange information with any other kind of formatting. It might also be a faulty SD card. It's definitely one of these two things. Are your pics stored on your SD card??? Put it in your computer and see if there is any information on it that is from the DS. If not, go ahead and format. If there is, select it all and drag and drop to a new folder on your computer. THEN format. After the format, drag and drop the info back onto the card.

Here is a website with a video to show you exactly how to format an SD card. Make sure you format it to FAT32

Good luck and happy gaming.

Thanks for the reply! I did a bit of digging myself, and it turns out DSiWare just can't run from external memory

It can only run from system memory, whereas 3DSWare can run from the SD card. I wish Nintendo would do something about this, since that means you can only have a limited number of DSiWare titles before the space fills up.

You can back up games to the SD card, but you can't run them from there, it's just to have a copy for future use

i have only DSIware on my 3DS after i deleted swapnote due to inactivity (and eating up space) but the 3DS should be like the wii in means of playing off both.

Unfortunately DSiWare can't play off external storage, which apparently is how it worked on the DSi, and without some major patching (which isn't going to happen

), it's going to stay that way =| Oh well, I don't need to have all my DSiWare installed at once anyway!

Oooooh! OK, well that sucks. Now that I think of it, I remember having this problem with the DS. Maybe the problem can be fixed with a Firmware update. Hopefully.

First you have to format properly your SD card and check it compatibility with your gaming device. You can play and store games with DS card and you said you find problems with transferring data then you contact the place from where you purchased it because it has some hardware problems.
