I am always scared of eating out after an ugly experience of falling sick after eating at a local restaurant here. Since then, I prefer eating the food that I made from home instead. Ever had an ugly experience eating out?

Yes I had running stomach after eating outside.

Wait, do you mean eating out, as in going to eat somewhere or just eating outside of a building?

I find that overly greasy food make me feel ill. But, I did not get food poisoning in many years.

Why would you eat in local restaurant? The word local will deter me from stepping a foot into the place. I wouldn't buy common bottle water from the place.

Yes, I had (insert name of chain restaurant) burritos.. turns out it was not cooked well! I gave it a second chance on a different menu item... nope....
never again.... I stick with my home cooking! I hardly eat out now... haha

Because local is usually the best.
It might depend on the local restaurant because most of them aren't worth it. There's a high chance of getting food poisoning eating in such places.

if you mean food poisoning, no I have not.

@Henrywrites I had many years ago. Was a greasy spoon diner & the onion rings were not cooked well. Wasn't overly sick but I could feel my stomach doing flips.
@Ja sa bong @Demon_Skeith I guess it depends on what the term "local" means. Here it means Mom & Pop diners, supporting the smaller restaurants versus chain restaurants. Both can have issues but we try to support local. I also feel local would do their best to up their standards because they have friends close by & are in the community. Whereas those who run chain restaurants may not live local, or even live in the same state!

Usually the local mom and pop places taste better. If your local burger joint is worse than McDonald’s, you gotta reevaluate your life choices.

I had that under review and I made that decision. My good health is better than whatever anyone thinks about how good a supposed local join is meant to be.

I don’t see how their health standards are better or worse than a major chain. Not even the major chains are consistent.

You’re scared for no reason.

You're very much welcome to have this your opinion. I'm not going to argue with you on it. I've made mine, which stays that way.

I’m just telling you that your opinion is based off of baseless information, whereas I’m basing mine off quantifiable information.

Idk about where you’re from, but in the US, all restaurants in your city/whatever inspected by the same health inspector organization. So you saying some local burger place is less safe than your local McDonald’s is something pulled entirely out of your ass.

Especially when you put into consideration that a lot of local places usually display their health inspector ratings in an easily viewable place (like the front counter) and the major chains often don’t. So it can make your McDonald’s more suspicious when the local burger place does, but McDonald’s won’t. Which makes your opinion even more baseless.

Everyone, you can have your arguments, but please be civil with them! Not everyone will agree with them! And if you don't agree with them, for the love of the Faerie of Frozen Flame, be respectful about it! If no one can handle it, then just walk away, and find another topic to post in! The one thing I WILL NOT TOLERATE is when people are disrespectful to one another! If anyone starts being disrespectful here, and I don't care WHO they are, they will receive the appropriate disciplinary actions! Got it? Good!

5. Show Respect! All members and staff here come to have a good time, disrespecting anyone on this forum will get you an instant warn and possibly a ban. So we ask you to respect all members of GL, if you have a problems take it somewhere private..

And now, back on topic, I have never gotten a foodborne illness from any restaurant before!

There's one place where I've heard of hair in the food. Other than that a lot of local places are excellent, but you are going to pay maybe $12 on average in my area. In contrast, McDonald's can be cheaper because they order a lot more and profit off the convenience of people recognizing a brand and having something quick. If you have a day off and have more than enough time to meet people or relax, then most places where you see people eating are fair choices.
