Drops in Minecraft have proven to be somewhat mixed, while I am okay with this system over the yearly major update, I also would like to see some more interesting drops than what we usually end up getting.
With the recent release of the Mounts Of Mayhem drop, I've decided to rank all 8 current drops. I'll be sure to revisit this at the end of 2026.
8. Bats And Pots
This isn't even a drop. I'm not being facetious, it's literally not a drop. They used this as an example of what drops would like and it's just a retexturing of bats and a change to pots. Who the hell uses this to describe what drops look like?
7. Bundles Of Bravery
Bundles are pretty neat, but that's all you kind of get in this drop. I'm looking at it through the lens of Java only, so I can't really say that I found this drop to be anything other than middling.
6. The Garden Awakens
The Pale Garden has a pretty nice wood type, but the biome itself is so utterly unremarkable. The Creaking is cool but the biome is so small and rare that it makes it feel very unimpactful. All in all, it's a biome I found myself never really being impressed with.
5. Chase The Skies
Happy Ghasts are pretty neat, but honestly, this drop always felt small to me. I suppose that's not inherently a bad thing but when it comes down to it, there's really not much outside of Happy Ghasts.
The lead changes and craftable saddles are pretty nice to have, but outside of two music discs and a painting, there's nothing else to note.
It's just not a very interesting drop is what I'm trying to say.
4. Armored Paws
Dog armor, dog variants and armadillos help in making this a pretty alright drop. It's not the most exciting thing in the world but it's also nowhere near bad either. It's higher than the other drops simply because I like these features more than I like the others.
3. Spring To Life
Spring To Life is honestly this high mostly out of biases. There's not a lot here, but I also like what's in this quite a lot.
The cactus flower, dry grass, bush, wildflowers, dried leaves, and firefry bushes are fun to decorate with. It's also the drop I notice the most, and as such, the one I became the most familiar with. All in all, for what it has, it packed a punch for me.
2. Mounts Of Mayhem
Ah, Mounts Of Mayhem, while recency biases likely plays into my ranking, I can't lie this was actually a good drop.
There's four new mobs, a whole new tier of weapons, zombie horses in survival, underwater mounts…just a whole shebang of interesting additions to the game.
Nautiluses are pretty nice to have, although they do kind of ruin the point of conduits. But honestly, I'm just glad to have such an interesting drop.
1. The Copper Age
The Copper Age is more or less the largest drop, and it honestly felt just as impactful as a major update.
You've got the copper golem, which is easily one of the best mobs in the modern game. You've got copper tools and weapons, which is quite helpful in the early game. You've got quite a decent amount of copper blocks, including the copper bars, copper lanterns, and copper chains. All in all, copper became a significantly more useful ore for me once this drop came out.
But that's not all, shelves were added in this update, which more or less acts like a half slab. This feature alone is the best addition to the game in the entire year.
Overall, I can only hope that next year's drops have something as wonderful as The Copper Age.
Anyways, that's my ranking of the Minecraft drops. Comment below if you have your own ranking.
