The link just links to the images. There is another plug-in that bulk uploads them I think but that's somewhere in the resource manager I think.

nothing to really abandon since the images can be downloaded.

Only licensed customers can download content from xenForo.com's forum. The designer just isn't taking requests for additions. The download package only contains images of each smiley, nothing else.
