Microsoft has just announced that the long-in-development Fable Legends is canceled, and furthermore that it is “in discussions with employees” about closing down Lionhead. That's not the end to the bad news, either. Press Play Studios, which had been working on the Xbox One-exclusive Project Knoxville, will also be shut down.

Very sad news. I really liked Lionhead Studios...

Wasn't too excited for Legends but I loved Fable 3 - possibly one of my favorite games of all times. I hope they somehow dodge the bullet.

MS has been taking some really bad decisions over the past few years as far as operating systems are concerned, so it's not surprising that they'll do the same in their gaming department.

The only games I actually know of from the studio is the Fable series, but I know that is a decently popular series. I wonder if they will decide to transfer it over to another studio instead of dropping it completely.

Very intelligent thing to do. Be even better if they purchased the studio and the rights to Fable but that's borderline impossible - just my wishful thinking.
