Along with the announcement of its new app center, Facebook is now allowing paid games on Facebook.
Along with Facebook's announcement to add an app store of its own, Facebook also revealed flat fee payment options for Facebook developers to charge money for their games. This means that Facebook games will no longer be restricted to the free-to-play model of having in-app purchases, widening the potential of games that could be featured on the app store.
Facebook's not rolling out a red carpet for this announcement because they don't think it'll be making any waves business-wise for them.
"We don't think it's going to be a major revenue driver for us. We just want to throw it out there if developers are interested in it," said a Facebook representative to Gamasutra in regards to the change.
It'll be interesting to see how switching to featuring paid games and paid apps, with the advent of the Facebook app center, will affect Facebook's business. I wonder if Facebook's awesome user base will supersede the fact that Facebook's hopping onto the app center and paid games bandwagon a little late. I wonder what Facebook will bring to the table to distinguish itself from all the other app stores already out there. We'll find out in the coming weeks as the Facebook app store launches, if Facebook carries out its promise.
Facebook's opened up the option to try out the beta for paid apps. Those who are interested should sign up here.

Interesting, so Facebook wants to be like Steam, and other online game stores, but with a social networking theme to it. I wonder if this means we can buy full PC games on Facebook, and play them on our web browser, or computer and devices after we downloaded the installer file to install it on our PC, tablet, or Smartphone.
