It's an okay anime except for the fan servicing.
I don't have any opinion for this anime. I don't recommend it to anyone though.
What do you guys think of this anime?

You should try searching for arcs instead.
That would help you in locating that volume.

I really love this anime, but i prefer dub over sub and thus have had to take a break from it and hope that they dub more episodes later.

I've been really loving it, I recently finished all 175 dubbed episodes and working on the subbed ones and I think I'm just about on ep 210.

And I agree with ToCool74 that dubbed is better.

I love the battle arc and erza's fight in that festival against sabertooth. 
I bet you are around that arc, right?

I've gotten mixed vibes from my friends about this anime. Some say it is way too long to just start watching unless you have plenty of time to kill, and others say that it is well worth it. I'm still unsure as to whether I should begin it and allow it to take up most of my summer. Is it worth the time?

Depends how much anime you watch and if you think you will like the series. If you like something, longer the better.
