Fastest way to power off?

What is the fastest possible way to power off (not sleep/standby) the 3DS? I want to just quickly power off and go my way. But I find it taking ages to power off. 10 times slower than DSi or previous Nintendo handhelds. Obviously, if I just close the lid, it'll stay on standby.

By the way, how many hours does the battery last in the "just-close-lid" mode?

I don't think there is a quick way to power off unfortunately. All I know is if you press the power button, you just have to tap that icon again. You might be able to get away with pressing the power button twice though, not really sure.

Also, stand by mode should last for a while. I heard the original DS could last a week, but I'm going to say around 3 days for a 3DS, give or take a few hours.

I know it takes 5 to 10 seconds to actually get it to power off. It's faster to press the power button twice, but you can hold the power button down for a not-so-fast but guaranteed power off.

Oh, I thought the slow turning off was just a me thing. Phew, I was getting worried.

BTW, i did that test by shutting down from the home menu. t might take longer if you're on a program.

Remove the battery!

Mine's lasted a whole day in sleep mode.
When I turn it off, I just push the power button twice. I don't bother tapping that stupid icon.

If you're one of those people who actually wait for something to turn off, then you have a problem. If you press the Power Button then, press "Turn Off", it will turn off. It might take a while, but as soon as you press it, you can just go on your way.
Like with a laptop. As soon as you click "Shutdown", you can close the laptop, and put it back in it's bag/case (if you have one). Even if it's still 'on'. Heck even if you have updates that it installs during shutdown. It'll install them while the laptop is closed and in the bag, but it'll still shutdown eventually. People actually watch it shut down, which wastes time. Although the 3DS is quicker than a laptop, it's the same thing... as soon as you've told it to turn off, it will turn off, whether you watch it or not.

TUK Is always right! I just hold the power button and if I'm really impatient, I touch the on-screen button at the same time! XD
