This weekend if there was an event that took most of the attention on social networks, it was obviously the violent feud between Phil Fish (independent developer behind FEZ) and Marcus Beer, a columnist at Gametrailers.

The reason? A podcast in which Beer lashed out on Fish as well as Jonathan Blow, creator of Braid who is now working on The Witness, an exclusive PlayStation 4 and PC game. Beer criticised them for their new found arrogance as well as being ungrateful and very critical in regards to Microsoft and its future Xbox One. This was nothing new for Phil Fish, accustomed to such criticisms since the issues with Redmond, partly because of the patching process, considered too expensive for Polytron who at the time decided not to solve a problem of corrupt backups affecting relatively few players. Fish had also entirely excluded the One of its FEZ II project.

The argument was then ported from the comments of the podcast in question to Twitter where it lasted for several hours. At the end of this writing clash, Fish, visibly on the edge, announced the cancellation of FEZ II, which had been announced less than two months ago. The information was relayed by the Polytron studio and Fish closed his Twitter to the public in the process. The creator of FEZ is now considering withdrawing from the industry, an affirmed being disgusted. With FEZ II cancelled, the question is whether this decision is final or not.

Funny little note: Beer, before treating the game creators of "fucking hipsters", called them "Blowfish". This term refers to a puffer fish, highly toxic, covered with spikes, and having the reflex of inflating when in danger. Curious metaphor that strangely resembles the attitude of one of the two belligerents who unfortunately fell into the game of criticism.

Like I said, the guy shouldn't be making games if this is how it turns out.
