The dream of a single system for all your Final Fantasy may become a reality soon. Sony Japan's Game Archives retro download service already has Final Fantasy VII (we have it too, in case you weren't aware.). As of last month, it also has Final Fantasy I. Today, the lineup took delivery of another entry in the series: Final Fantasy II.
Gamers in Japan (and those with access to the Japanese PlayStation Store) can download the PlayStation remake of the second Final Fantasy game for the Game Archives' standard 600 yen price point. The PlayStation remake offers some big advancements over the NES original, including renewed visuals, some gameplay additions, and a CG intro.
The release of FFII got us thinking. Perhaps Square Enix plans on releasing all the PlayStation Final Fantasy remakes/re-releases to the service. That would account for the series through FFVI. FFVII is already out. If they released FFVIII and FFIX as well, PSP and PS3 would be the ultimate Final Fantasy machines!
