Not sure if good or bad, but Square Enix confirmed to Kotaku that the FF 7 remake will be Episodic, meaning it will be coming to us in parts. There reasoning is this:

“From the beginning, we thought a Final Fantasy VII remake would be bigger than a single release,” the game’s original director Yoshinori Kitase told Dengeki Online.

“If you did get it into a single release, there would be things we’d have to put into a shortened compilation,” Tetsuya Nomura, FFVII’s character designer, added. “Since we thought there would be stuff we would probably have to pare down and supplemental things we probably couldn’t add, we decided to divide it up, concluding that we have to do a remake that’s fully packed with content.”

Kitase added that with the Sector 1 and Sector 8 areas shown in the most recent trailer are quite dense. “If we took everything that’s in the original game and remade it at that quality, we couldn’t get it all on a single release,” said Kitase.

The Final Fantasy VII director explained that since they won’t be dividing up the game, the substance of the original won’t be cut, and Square Enix can then take that substance and do a full-on remake.

Thoughts? I'm not ready to rage yet, not enough info for me to rage but I'm not liking it.

Never played an FF game, was going to start with this or 15. I will await reviews. As long as each episode is meaty enough and it isn't overly expensive then I don't mind.

My recommendations:

FF 4, FF 6, FF 7, FF 9 and FF 10. Final fantasy record keeper for mobiles will also give you a good run down on the series which isn't a bad play.

Was kind of waiting to hop in at the 'modern' FF. That appeals to me much more than the older games to be honest.

Honestly just a mixture of both or near enough. I would have to play on PS4 which so far limits me to FF7 remastered (might as well wait until the remake?) or FF14, which is online and most people weren't as thrilled with it.

Correction, that was the old FF 14 people hated. Since they revamped it, they love FF 14 now.

Anyways, all FF have good stories to them. As far I know the FF 7 remake will have a slightly different take on its long story from the PS1 game.

Fair enough. Oh, there is also the remaster collection of FFX and X-2, would you say that is worth it if I wanted to get involved?
