Fighting Games

I am a huge supporter of fighting games. Though I am nowhere near tournament player status(though I did pretty good in the marvel vs street fighter tourney at I-Con), I enjoy the hell outta playing them with friends. Here are my thoughts on a few series:

Street Fighter: Not bad. I am not a fan of SFII but Alpha, Third Strike, and 4 are very fun to play. My favorite outta all three of those series though has to be Third Strike, it has such style and the fighting engine is so solid and nearly perfect(you do have some broken characters....chun li >_<). I like Capcom Vs Snk 2 and Tatsunoko Vs Capcom the best when it comes to the crossovers, never liked the marvel counterparts due to lots of balance issues.

King of Fighters: By far my favorite fighting franchise. The whole series in general is SOOO under looked, and it slightly pisses me off. Thanks to the fact that it is under rated, SNK Playmore doesn't make enough money to create a KoF game that can compete with Capcom and the like in today's market. For example, look at KoF12. Great fighting engine and graphics wasted on a game with such little features, characters that just randomly were thrown in there without moves, and horrendous online play. Still waiting on a console release for KoF13 but until then, KoF98' Ultimate Match and KoF2002 Unlimited Match are my favorites in the franchise. Hell KoF2002 has 61 characters, that beats the HELL outta MVC2's roster cuz not only is it more but its also way more balanced and varied.

Mortal Kombat: My least favorite, seriously the only MK I like is Ultimate MK3(own the DS version) and the recent MK9. I still don't consider either one to be true fighting games though, i'll admit that 9 is a lot of silly fun and feels more brawl-ish than street fighter-ish due to it's simplicity.

Blazblue/Guilty Gear: I casually play Guilty Gear but I LOVE Blazblue Continuum Shift. I enjoy the characters, the music, the story, and the funny endings. The fighting engine is so fluid and very fun. I'm waiting on the 3ds version of Continuum Shift 2 and the PS3 version's update.

So what do you guys think about fighting games?

They're very fun. Even though I don't own too many fighting games, they're fun.

Soul Caliber. Super Smash Bros Brawl. (Counts, Right?) A street fighter and a Naruto Game.

looooove em.... Favorite i would say Super Street Fighter Turbo 2... Tekken (they are all the same) ... Marvel vs Mortal Kombat... Old shool Mortal Kombat till bumber 3. Clay fighters and KILLER INSTINCT!!! Would love to see some new ones of the last two. There has been a rumor that a new Killer Instinct is on the drawing board. Played more, but those i will definitely remember..

Old shool Mortal Kombat till bumber 3.
Oh? Have you played the recent MK yet? It's actually a lot of fun and it is a true example that Mortal Kombat is capable of being a decent fighter, personally not my favorite but its sooooooo gratifying to play.
Edit: Oh and technically its a retelling of 1, 2, and 3's storyline so you know that WB games went all out retro with this game.

I am dyyyying to play the new one. Looks like they did it right this time. To be honest, i did like MK vs Marvel as well, it just wasn't 100% . I dont have a Ps3 or Xbox though

The only ones I have are Super Smash Bros Melee and Brawl.I've played naruto at a friends house before and it was fun.

Now by MK Vs Marvel do you mean MK Vs DC Universe? I don't remember MK and Marvel crossing over....yet at least....and hopefully never. But yeah I didn't like MK Vs DCU myself, I just generally hate 3D mortal kombat that isn't MK4 really :/. And no, the new MK doesn't count as 3D in my opinion, its 3D on a 2D plane which is fine by me.

The Fighting Genre is one of my absolute favorites when it comes to gaming. My top favs have to be Third Strike and Blazblue Continuum Shift II. I'm pretty much on the same boat as you when it comes to those two. I'm aching for some Blazmania portable goodness + title update with Platinum (Finally!) and some Third Strike Online (Come on Capcom!).

So pretty much you get a fist bump from me brother!

Tekken beats all, I'm sorry but you get to play as an EFFING PANDA! Or if that isn't good enough then how about... A BEAR THAT ALMOST BECAME PRESIDENT?! OR A CYBORG CHICK THAT CAN TAKE OFF THEIR HEAD?! OR A GRIM REAPER SWORDSMAN?! OR A MOTHEREFFING NINJA NAMED RAVEN THAT CAN CONTROL ROBOTS?! etc.

Tekken was never my thing, then again neither was Virtua Fighter or Dead or Alive. Also if you want weird characters in fighting games....just take a look at Q from Third Strike....if that isn't the face of a cyborg child predator than I don't know what is.

This guy?

Fighting games are awesome. Ever since Super Smash Bros., it got me to want to try other fighting games. I've downloaded and played MUGEN, its fun but gets boring overtime. I want to play Melty Blood Actress Again for the PS2 so bad.
