I'm extremely annoyed about the distinct lack of high selling games listed in some of these categories, since Smash Bros Melee basically kept the Gamecube afloat far better than The Wind Waker did (both are good games), or Metroid Prime 2 (same), and Wii Sports basically reintroduced a whole audience to video games. Bad show here on some counts, since many are literally seeming like just 'the games that have Mario or Zelda in the title'.

I love the Zelda series, but... did it really have to win every generation's list?

The Mario and Zelda series ae the best series ever. They deserved to win.

To be fair, it IS a Smithsonian exhibit. The fact that they're labeling video games as an art form should be considered a triumph even thought it's a bit biased.

Oh, by the way guys. This list was voted for by the public (i voted in it myself), so that explains the results, really.

Yeah, here was the site you voted on (although obviously voting's closed now). Basically, you chose 3 games from a choice of about 15 from each console, for as many of the 'eras' as you liked.
Here is the full list, by the way.

Oh wow, Shenmue won for adventure on the Dreamcast? I'm impressed.

Other then a few exceptions, the list is pretty good.
