For fans of American football, gaming titles based on the sport are almost unavoidable. In particular, the Madden series is truly iconic, with football fans and gamers alike exploring this long-running series for decades. However, while some former Madden favorites are still being sampled, the new game, Madden 26, is on the lips of almost every NFL fan out there.
Whether you’re aiming to play against a loved one or silence a cocky friend, some teams are better to pick than others, though. In fact, in the same way bettors who bet on NFL games and fantasy players make shrewd picks, some teams tend to be favored ahead of the pack. The same applies in Madden 26, with certain franchises loaded with more formidable talent than the rest and therefore tending to be picked by the masses.
So, be it for an online head-to-head clash or for an online franchise gaming marathon, below we highlight five of the strongest teams to pick in Madden 26. It’s worth noting that Madden player ratings update weekly during the NFL regular season, but we’re going to highlight five teams who are always there or thereabouts when assessing the ratings in the game.
Baltimore Ravens
Somewhat unsurprisingly, the Baltimore Ravens are a safe bet for many Madden gamers. With the highest overall rating of 93 at the time of writing, this dangerous outfit is capable of coming out on top in any tense encounters given the quality they possess. Despite a disappointing campaign last season, the Ravens continue to be a favored pick for many, especially due to the arrivals of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and defensive back Chidobe Awuzie. Throw in the likes of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, and the Baltimore Ravens are always a viable option.
Philadelphia Eagles
If you can’t pick the Baltimore Ravens for whatever reason, then the Philadelphia Eagles are a fantastic alternative. They might’ve failed to retain their championship trophy last campaign, but the Eagles are still a force to be reckoned with. The likes of Jordan Mailata, AJ Brown, and Jalen Carter are key cogs in their wheel, although Saquon Barkley and Lane Johnson are probably their biggest stars. A fantastic all-round side with barely any weaknesses associated with them, the Philadelphia Eagles are always capable of winning big.
Kansas City Chiefs
Next up is the Kansas City Chiefs, a franchise so many Madden lovers rely on. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is certainly the main attraction, although this well-oiled machine also has a number of other world-class operators to play along as. With both an impressively solid defense and a seriously dangerous offense, the Chiefs are a go-to pick for many Madden 26 players.
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills might not be a franchise at the top of the rankings these days, but they’re a team that boasts some notable talents. This is also a team that has never won the Super Bowl, but they’re capable of doing so. If you fancy leading them to glory in the game, then the Bills have some exceptional professional football players to call upon, including star quarterback Josh Allen. Overall, the Bills are a good pick to make, although their 85-rated defense at the time of writing could probably be higher.
Minnesota Vikings
Finally, we have the Minnesota Vikings, a franchise that has failed to get their hands on the Super Bowl trophy. Still, the Vikings are capable of reigning supreme against any side in the game, with J.J. McCarthy successfully bedding in and reliable performers like Justin Jefferson and Christian Darrisaw ready to go to war.
