Sporting goods manufacturer Riddell is making a helmet that will broadcast signs of a particularly brutal hit to the sidelines, allowing coaches and trainers to be more alert to concussions that may or may not have happened on the field. The helmet, which carries a $1,000 price tag, will determine through the impact that its sensor has recieved whether or not the impact is potentially injurious.

In addition, a player's family can log on to a PC-based application during a game, to see if their loved one has sustained an injury. This is perhaps the cruelest application in the history of modern technology. Imagine your mom sitting in front of a computer screen for three hours every week, watching to see if your brain function has diminished enough to consider taking you to a hospital for brain damage. Doesn't seem very fun, huh?
