This is... mind boggling? Fortnite is a big game and so big that parents want to make their kids good at it, to the point they are willing to hire tutors.

The Wall Street Journal wrote an article detailing various parents and their children involved in this phenomenon, interviewing them about their experiences.

Some parents claim they simply don't want their kids losing matches, others are taking lessons for themselves so they aren't so embarrassed when they play the game, and some are even taking lessons alongside their kids as a bonding experience. These coaches are typically found on social media or contracting sites, with one site claiming it has hired out over 1,400 Fortnite coaches since March.

I bet, some of the parents couldn't quickly find a baby sitter for their kids who they don't trust at letting them be home alone where they may play with fire, knives, and hurt themselves by jumping off the roof. Leaving the kids and teens alone with a Fortnite tutor with good customer reviews can be safer than leaving them home alone, or with a stranger who they don't fully trust at safely baby siting their children.

I think it is also less embarrassing for some older children who are 12 years old and older to tell their friends they have a babysitter who is a gaming tutor rather than tell their friends that their baby sitter is their strict neighbor who gets angry at them a lot.

Damn! What has happened to the world especially these new age parents. Do they not watch the news or are they not aware of the dangers of leaving your kids alone with strangers (of any age). And WTF is a Fortnite tutor? Come on people make better decisions. They are parents for God's sake, they are responsible for bringing up other human beings.

Telling your gamer friends that you have a Fortnite "tutor" is a bigger embarrassment.

If you have better Fortnite gaming skills after a few tutoring lessons, and beat your friends at many Fortnite matchs, it is less embarrassing than being called a newbie/noob or always being in last place because of your bad Fortnite skills.

That perspective sounds valid, but wounds the pride.

I agree it can wound the pride saying they have a Fortnite tutor.

There is always a chance of increasing their pride if they pride themselves in being a popular Fortnite Twitch streamer or Fortnite pro gamer.

If some Fortnite students keep practicing to be better at Fortnite, they may reach their goal of being a popular Fortnite Twitch streamer, or pro Fortnite gamer which can be an awesome achievement for a Fortnite fan who is heavily dedicated to Fortnite and the Fortnite gaming community.

I guess that's where gaming is headed now with the new generation.

I agree gaming is headed this way. Gaming is now more of a sport, or an activity younger gamers play at a massive e-sport tournament, or on the internet on popular video streaming sites like Twitch, and traditional social networks like Facebook and Instagram where there is live video streaming.

I read a comment on a blog post that a lot of student's classmates dream about being a Twitch streamer, and YouTuber.

Pardon me for being Mr. Skeptic la. But, what practical benefit would the game offer children? I think this issue has been overhyped.

I have heard about this and have to say it is mind boggling. What is wrong with people that they get tutors for their children to learn to play a video game better. What happened to the good old days where you were supposed to limit your children's gaming to a minimum because it wasn't good for them and lead to sedentary lifestyle. Tutors are for math and other school subjects. What in the world is so special about Fortnite that people are just going bonkers over?
