Free spy sweeper

I need a free spy sweeper as the one I have now which is a paid one hasn't picked up any spyware in many months and use to find a few everyday.

I need to check and see if the webroot spysweeper is still working on my PC.

Free antispyware and antimalware software, but they don't have real-time scanners, so you need to manually press the scan button. They all are pretty good for free software.

You can try each one, and see which one is best for you. I think you can use all of them to have more then one opinion since they don't have a real-time shield, so they won't interfere with your antivirus, or run in the background when you don't click to start it with the shortcut.

Well I tried the first one, it got some things but not what I was looking for. Hmm, I wonder if my PC don't get spyware anymore?

Spybot seems to catch everything for me.

Usually the extra stuff Spyware scanners find is tracking cookies, which will stop happening if you for instance clear cookies on exit.

However if you would like a secondary anti spyware, I highly suggest SuperAntiSpyware. It not only scans for spyware,but just about everything else. It has a great detection rate and is very efficient.

Also I highly suggest AGAINST using spybot, in recent years it detection rate has decreased alot. It use to be the best of the free world, now it is almost the worst.

Spybot has a website immunisation feature which blocks you from visiting bad sites by modifying your Internet HOST file to block your web browser from access bad sites. There is no harm in also using Spybot along with SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebyetes, and other antispyware as a second opinion scanner since there is always a possibility that Spybot caught one spyware that SuperAntiSpyware did not catch, but Spybot caught, and a spyware which Superantispyware caught which spybot did not caught.

Spybot is free, so they probably don't have the man power or money to find all the new spyware and malware which gets released on a daily and hourly basis by virus makers, but they are probably trying their best to update their definitions as quickly as possible without a lot of paid staff.

HitmanPro at http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro is also a good virus, malware, and spyware scanner which uses multiple virus definitions from Ikarus, Dr. Web, Emsisoft, Prevx, and G Data to find and get rid of spyware, malware, virus, trojans, rootkits, etc.
