FreedomPop said on Wednesday that it has finally launched its free broadband internet service. Of course, nothing is entirely free: potential customers will be required to purchase the $89 Burst wireless (WiMAX) modem/router. But after that, customers can receive 1 GB of free data at speeds under 1.5 Mbps each month. Every additional 1 MB beyond that cap is one cent.

FreedomPop new 1GB free internet service is good for people who just use e-mail, browse the web, or mainly use the internet at school, work, in the library, and don't really have a need for a paid ISP because they are using the school's internet, or they're at work a lot.

$89 for the modem/router is also a good deal.

I wonder how long it would take to lift the 1GB limit to 60GB.

Indeed, most internet users will use up 1GB in a few days unless they know how to disable pictures, flash, scripts, and other add-ons/plug-ins from loading on websites. It is still a better deal than some wireless cell phone providers which only give you 100MB of data for $50 per prepaid card.

Freedompop also has 10GB a month plans for $10 a month.

Giving away 1 GB of free data is also a good way to get free articles to build up their brand name when blogs, forums, and news papers write articles about Freedompop giving away 1GB of data each month like how Facebook, and other new companies got free articles from blogs when they launch because a lot of blogs said Facebook provided a free ad-free social network for students and former classmates to chat online when FB launch a few years a go,
