On the eve of the short film “Frozen Fever” opening with Cinderella, Disney has announced that Frozen 2 is a go.

This of course comes as no surprise, considering the huge success that the animated film has been for the company. The plan was revealed during the Walt Disney Company’s annual shareholders meeting today in San Francisco, where some Star Wars news was also dropped.

Directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck and producer Peter Del Vechoare, all from the 2013 original, are developing the project, which will presumably continue the billion-dollar-plus adventures of Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf.

“We enjoyed making Frozen Fever so much and being back in that world with those characters,” said John Lasseter. “Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that.”

There's no word on a release date yet, but stay tuned to IGN for more as we have it.

milking the cash cow.

I thought it was a good film for what it was meant to be - not really my kind of thing though obviously. Think that the second wont be as popular but it was bound to happen.

The producers will really have to try their best to not make this film flop. I felt as though the first movie concluded perfectly, and it left no truly loose ties to merit a sequel. Undoubtedly, many younger children will jump to see this film, but I feel as though they will be disappointed by a poor plot. The Disney animators will have their work cut out for them.

Disney are gonna have to pull make something really special to satisfy the hype aftermath of the first film, but sadly I don't think it will happen. They will appeal to the most common tropes with not a very good storyline and will overall not be a good film. The animation will be nice, but that's about it.

This is excellent news!! Although I don't think that I will be able to wait for long, I am still looking forward to this one! I watched the short Frozen Fever. I was with a friend and we were sitting in the cinema, waiting anxiously to see Cinderella, when all of a sudden Elsa appeared. We both wondered whether we had entered the right cinema room! It was a nice surprise, a little short for my taste, but still very entertaining. I don't know what else they can do, the story is more or less complete, but nevertheless, I'd love to see more Arendelle adventures.

My thoughts exactly. The film is more or less complete, there is very little left to present. And we are expecting a good plot!

I was also disappointed that Elsa/Anna storyline was done with in Once Upon a Time. Both characters were simply stunning and I loved seeing them even though it wasn't in Frozen.

I watched Frozen a while after all the hype so I'd heard most of the songs and everything on the radio so when I watched it I really didn't think it was all that good nor that different from any other Disney film. I hope people don't go Frozen crazy again it was so annoying, couldn't escape the thing!

That happened to me with The Pirates from the Caribbean. Everyone was crazy about it so I refused to watch either one of the movies. And then one day my brother made me watch the movies with him. First one was very good. The second one was... good. The third one... pushed. And then I stopped watching, so yes, I completely understand.

Maybe if you see this second one right in time, you won't find it so ordinary? I don't know.
