So looking over the current arcade issues, I just want to start off with the first current issues that we face.

Flash is being phased out of internet use and being replaced with html5. Since most games made for the arcade are flash based, its very possible that many may not end up working with the future of html5 browser players. So that right here renders a ton of content in possible limbo.

Next our current arcade, the only arcade made for Xenforo is no longer being supported or at least not have top priority by the maker specially for the upcoming Xenforo 2 release. Searching around no one else has plans of possibly bringing another function arcade to Xenforo anytime soon.

So right now we're stuck with a bare bones arcade with a expiration date on it. For the time being I'll keep the arcade going for future contests. I'm trying to see if I can possibly set up a different arcade on a different domain and somehow bridge the two.

I'll keep you guys updated, if anyone here has any ideas or suggestions let me know.

Well, using HTML 5 + Javascript games seems plausible if you know what you're doing/how to integrate them. I mean, it saves scores by a simple form POST request.

So in theory, it'd be possible to mod the arcade to use HTML 5 games instead of Flash ones. However, that would require specialist programming, and I worry that no one out there is interested in making that sort of thing at the moment.

Does anyone know where you can get HTML 5 games? Also what the script being used here? If I can find the time (been quite busy at late) I may be able to hack it so that it use html 5 games instead of flash based ones but I can't promise anything.

I hope a solution can be found because I love playing the games for the contests . If nothing can be found, I guess you could do some sort of arcade script on a subdomain (arcade.gaminglatest.com). We could just registered on there with the same usernames here

pretty much my back up plan, but I like to know if there is a bridge option so I can connect accounts and what software I can install on the software for the actual arcade.

It's called XF Arcade.

And just to note, I'm kind of tempted to reopen the old forum just to get back its arcade but unfortunately the maker of ipbpro arcade has passed away and that addon is now in limbo as well.

Just not a good year for forum arcades.

Is that ipbpro arcade free or not? I wonder if I could hack IPB to read XF's database......

it is free, I can get you it if you think you can make something out of it.
I need to look at if I can make IPB read XF's user database. A quick look at XF database shows that there is at lease 2 tables used when someone logs in while IPB use one table. What version of IPB was used at the time?

Would it solve our issues though? As far as I know IPBPro Arcade doesn't support HTML 5 either and if the owner has just passed away it also won't be updated. Seems to be the same issues as with our current Xenforo plugin.

Well I done some googling and what I am thinking of is a standalone script that has what you want and then bridge it with XF. Yes there are some that claim to support HTML5 games.

want to PM those results?

the ipb arcade even if it doesn't get further updates is still leagues better than the XF arcade.

I was googling xenforo and arcades and came across this thread and signed up. I am in the same situation, looking for some other arcade to work with xenforo. Right now playing around with Wordpress, myarcadeplugin, and a couple of bridges that set Xenforo as master. Still have not got the bridges figured out right but working on it.

If its true about MrZeropage passing it makes sense as I had not heard from him since Oct 2016, I gave him site access to vb5 site and he was working on getting ibproarcade to run on vb5, had made a lot of progress but then nothing since November. Also had talked to Marcel about maybe looking to see if he could convert it over to Xenforo and he had said that it was something he would look at once he got ibproarcade running on vb5.

Happy to hear others concerned about this as well, we need to voice this more on the offical forums so that someone actually does something. I rather keep the system on the same software instead of a whole different area.

The trouble is that Flash has been in use for so long, has been the de facto method of creating browser-based games (looking at Newgrounds and Miniclip as examples), that even with it being forcibly phased out by modern browsers, it will still take years for HTML-5 games to reach the same type of saturation.

That means HTML-5 games are slim-pickings in quantity and quality. and will be for a few years, methinks.
