Paramount Studios' vice chairman Rob Moore seems to be pleased with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra's $100 million worldwide gross this past weekend, so much so that he's already pushing for a sequel.

While talking to the LA Times, Moore "confirmed that a sequel will soon go into development. The film's lead actors are contractually obligated to return for another film, though director Stephen Sommers is not."

Still, as the paper points out, there is some question as to how sustainable Joe will be at the box office, particularly with the sci-fi pic District 9 opening this weekend and the "sizable" 18% drop in domestic ticket sales the film saw from Friday to Saturday. That could mean word of mouth on the film isn't so great.

Moore says that Paramount will aim marketing "more at families going forward … hoping to persuade more parents to take older children to the PG-13 film."

I didn't even know the movie was already out. DAM! it made a killing, which is no suprise. may have to make a trip to the theatre later today; been looking forward to this movie.

And, already knew there's be a sequel out, it's too big of a pop culture to not make as many movies, so long as they keep up the quality , and not let them deteriorate with each new release.

COBRA!!!!!
