Researchers trying to determine if getting dumped causes measurable, physical pain-and it apparently does show up on fMRI-needed a proxy experience for romantic relationships in their tests. (It wouldn't be polite to throw people who just got dumped in fMRI machines, I guess, but I still would like to see those results.)

Instead researchers "attempted to elicit feelings of rejection in test subjects by telling them they had been excluded from a computer game". I guess that means getting kicked off a server because you aren't very good at multiplayer is in the same class of emotional pain as a breakup. Go ahead and cry after your kickban. Science says it's okay!

Hahaha, I see the relation, though.
It is well known fact that single men replace female companionship with video games.
Good thing though, because once they get a girlfriend/wife, they will never be able to play as much.
 
What? If a thing you really, really, really, really like gets taken away from you, you get very mad/sad whatever. Isn't that completely obvious?
 
I can see the relation but only if you value your in-game account. But to me, the pain is different since getting dumped for me is more of an emotional thing. Getting banned for me is more of losing all my stuff and hard work.

Yeah, I really do know the pain. And it made me even more angry when it was not possible to recover my account and items, even if my accounts were hacked and wasn't my fault at all. :D
