A new game announced by Nintendo today and naturally coming to the Switch in June, it builds off the company’s recent work with everything from the Labo to Super Mario Maker to work as a kind of basic game-building suite, giving players the tools required to make all types of simple lil’ video games.
Players will be guided through every step of the way, and once you’re done, you’ll be able to share your creations with the world. As an extra cool touch, it’ll even support the use of a mouse if you plug it into the Switch’s dock.
I like the idea, I'm not sure about the execution. I feel like it'll have the Mario Maker problem where you won't be able to filter out the bad and find the good. The reason I stopped playing Mario Maker is because it's impossible to find decent levels. They're either too easy, too hard, or troll levels. No happy medium.
That's actually really cool. Something like this is great for kids and even some adults who might want to get into game dev/coding. A bit like Scratch actually with the building blocks aspect
I agree this game could be great for people who want to start game dev/coding, and may not have access to a monitor/TV and computer which is powerful enough to run Scratch at a usable speed.
Scratch is pretty low in terms of the resources it needs, to be fair so the persons laptop would have to be absolutely awful to not be able to run it lol
There are probably some people who may still own very slow laptops which they may still be using mainly to do very basic tasks, or because of money problems.
I read a blog posts and seen news articles that there are people with smartphones, but don't own a PC at home.
I found Scratch for Android at Scratch - Apps on Google Play , so users can always make Scratch programs on a cheap Android device.
