Gaming subscription service GameFly is moving beyond mere distribution, with the company announcing that it will begin publishing titles on its own for iOS and Android. Rather than develop titles from scratch, the company is targeting developers that are already in the process of developing their own games, but would like to partner with an outside company for distribution and promotion. Taking things a step further, GameFly will also be introducing its own third-party app store for Android — dubbed the GameFly GameStore — which will offer a selection of curated titles. While GameFly has been known as a Netflix-style service for gaming aficionados, offering physical media through the mail, it has recently been moving towards digital distribution in earnest, debuting a download service for PC gamers after a beta test last year. The GameStore for Android will be debuting later this fall, with the company expecting to publish its first titles for Apple's and Google's mobile platforms this summer.

Cool, I hope the App store would be worldwide, and not just US-Only like the Amazon App store. I wonder would there be a subscription service for game apps like you have unlimited access to all Game apps as long as you pay a low monthly fee to play them.

lol I feel like Gamefly is trying to set up a monopoly or something... They took over Direct2Drive and now they are aiming for mobile market as well..

Maybe GameFly is preparing for the uncertain future of Game consoles and PCs since there are rumours that you can't play used games on the Xbox 720, and PS4, and MS and Sony will limit how many consoles you can play the Disc on.

Some people also might think consoles won't use discs in the future, and would be streamed via the internet like Onlive, Gaikai, or DLC download based like Xbox live online shop, etc.

GameFly also might want to cash in on the success on Mobile games like Angry Birds, Plants vs. Zombies, Fruit Ninja, and Cut the Rope which made a lot of cash and got a lot of downloads.

True but its not like they are renting mobile games.... The company is basically just changing into another retailer.
