According to a study conducted by a U.K. tire concern Continental Tires, video game players are really bad drivers, specifically, people who play driving games. They are more likely to crash into stationary objects than non-gamers. They're more likely to speed. They take bigger risks. They're more likely to use the cell while driving. They're twice as likely to have "road rage." They get ticketed more.

2,000 people between the ages of 17 and 39-- half gamers, half not-- were quizzed about their gaming habits and the results were striking. 22 percent of gamers reported being stopped by police, as compared to 13 percent of non-gamers. 30 percent of gamers had made insurance claims, while only 15 percent of non-gamers made claims.

my mom and dad must be gamers :P

I wonder if this depend on the type of racing games since arcade racing games like Need For Speed, Mario Kart, Wipeout, Burnout, CrusinUSA and Crazy Taxi have unrealistic physics while Simulation driving games like Gran Tourismo, Forza, F1 2010 and Toca race driver have more realistic physics which reflect the real world driving physics better.

I also disagree that racing games make people worst drivers. Gamers who use racing games to experience high speed driving might be less likely to speed since they can use their racing games for their car racing thrills instead of using a real car to get off on high speed thrills. Racing games can also teach people valuable consequences of dangerous driving.

If you drive fast in real life and crash, your car will end up like this car:

I just drive at the speed limit to conserve gas since gas is expensive. Plus, I live in the City, so I can't speed anyways. I also read driving slower makes your car last longer since your engine, and other parts are not working as hard.
