The casual gamer market is growing and GameStop is doing its damndest to cash in by adding two new sections to each of its stores, which it hopes will appeal to those interested in lighter fair, such as family friendly games and music sims.

According to the Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of the company, Daniel DeMatteo “There is a real breadth of properties now appealing to a much broader audience than we’ve seen before... Honestly, we are having to retool the way we think of things in our stores in terms of merchandising, layout and also customer service because it is no longer only the hardcore gamer walking in who knows exactly what he wants.â€￾

Expect the changes in store layout to take place this holiday season.

Looks to me like GameStop is expanding their target gaming audience. Which is a good thing, casual gamers shouldn't feel left out of the loop when purchasing games.
