GameStop Selling Online-Only Strategy

GameStop employees now have something new to harass you about: online-only guide packages.

As part of a new program announced today, GameStop will sell digital strategy guides for games like Madden 13 and the upcoming Halo 4. Here's the press release:

Starting today, GameStop customers can purchase digital, web-access Prima eGuides at GameStop retail locations. The new program, "Buy In-Store, Redeem Online," launches with an exclusive Madden NFL 13 tournament bundle. This exclusive GameStop eGuide bundle includes two tournament-level eGuides (offense and defense). Regularly priced at $39.99, GameStop customers can get the bundle for only $19.99.

Future eGuide releases include Halo 4, Hitman: Absolution, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, The Sims 3 Supernatural, and many more.

Hahahaha FAIL! If I am going to get a guidebook, I want a physical copy on my lap which I can quickly flip to when I need a map or whatever. I am not going to pay $20+ dollars for a online version when there is gamefaqs.

I saw in the article comments about someone complaining about the FF 9 guide book. Which means people don't learn from mistakes of leaving paid guidebook material online.

Might as well have, the guide book basically outline what was said in the game and for anymore details you had to go online to get the rest of the guide book.

Why would you buy a guide digitally for an old game? GameFAQs would have way better guides by now.
