sourceSnow White and the Hunstman director Rupert Sanders will reportedly direct the long-gestating, 3D live-action Ghost in the Shell movie for DreamWorks. Sanders will direct from a script by William Wheeler (The Cape).
The film, which Deadline says is a personal favorite of DreamWorks boss Steven Spielberg, will be produced by Avi Arad (Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy), Ari Arad, and Steven Paul (Ghost Rider, Tekken).
The movie is, of course, based on the beloved Japanese manga and later anime of the same name. The futuristic cyberpunk series revolves around the half-machine/half-woman Motoko Kusanagi, a member of the covert ops agency Section 9, which focuses on crimes related to technology.
It's uncertain whether Ghost in the Shell will be Sanders' next film as he has a few other projects in development.
An American GitS movie? No way will this be good nor will the public understand it assuming the keep in most of the complicated stuff the anime is known for.
