Gmail has been comprehensively blocked in China six months after government censors first began disrupting access to the service. Google’s Transparency Report shows Gmail traffic falling dramatically in the country on the night of December 25th, and while Chinese officials have not claimed responsibility, a Singapore-based spokesperson for Google told Reuters: "We've checked and there's nothing wrong on our end."

This is disappointing for Chinese living in China who use Gmail instead of a free e-mail providers from China like Baidu, QQ, etc. There would also be fewer Chinese commenters on YouTube, Google Plus, and other Google social networks since they all use Gmail usernames to sign-in to comment. Also, people in China may also lose access or features to their Google Android phones, and Chromebooks laptops since you also need a Gmail account to sign-in to Google Play app store, and your Chromebook's user account to open programs like Gmail, Google Docs, YouTube.
