I never used GoDaddy, but I read a few reports that GoDaddy sites are vulnerable to viruses and malware attacking it. http://www.killersites.com/community/index.php?/topic/3103-godaddy-malware-attack-php-sites/
I heard they weren't very good. I have yet to try them but I don't think I ever will. I usually don't listen to one or two people putting a host down, but I have heard it multiple times that GoDaddy hosting is now good.
we have been using godaddy hosting for our site, and not only for SQL databases but also everything PHP/HTML/java, (even the old frontpage files worked from back-in-the-day)
and we currently have 9 godaddy hosted webpages that are separate sites & businesses, all with anti-virus DB extensions installed, backup utility, etc.
there are plenty of ways around what other people find to be negative because they do not know enough about web hosting,
keep in mind that godaddy serves millions upon millions of people, so yes you will see many bad things flying around online, it just depends on where you look,
all i know is that we have tried 15 other webshosts over a period of 10 years, and no one else has the instant support and setup plus almost %100 uptime that godaddy has, they seem to be able to handle spikes in traffic very well, which is what this site needs,
