While we don't yet know when it will be available, development of the Gold Saucer area for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is currently underway, according to director Naoki Yoshida.
Speaking with Final Fantasy Dream, Yoshida was asked about the status of the Final Fantasy XIV incarnation of the Gold Saucer, which has been discussed in the past as something that would eventually be released for the MMO. "I can't reveal the release timing but I can tell you we've started the development," he explained.
"The designs and all the contents are almost ready, but we want to make sure there's a huge volume and contents to the Gold Saucer when it's released, otherwise the players won't consider it. So when it will be out, I'm sure you'll be happy, so please wait for it."
The Gold Saucer is the name of an amusement park in Final Fantasy VII where players could play a variety of minigames, including a chocobo race. When previously addressing the prospect of bringing it to the latest Final Fantasy MMO, which is coming to PS4 soon, Yoshida indicated it would be home to at least three minigames.
