IDG News Service - Google's dominance of the smartphone market has reached new heights, with its Android operating system now accounting for a record 84.6% share of global smartphone shipments, according to research by Strategy Analytics.
I think the main reason for Google Android having the most users is because you can get a Google Android phone for $40-50, and Android has all the popular Apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Angry Birds, etc which most people use.
Yeah makes sense why they are the most popular. I wish there was a little bit more competition in this market though... but it is hard to get developer support (as BlackBerry and Windows have found out).
I think newer Blackberry smartphones with the BB10 OS can now run sideloaded Android apps, and Blackberry users can also install the Amazon App store for Android on BB devices to download and install Android apps, so owning a Blackberry phone will not mean you don't have a lot of apps to choose from BB users can either sideload Android apps to Blackberry, or get Android apps from the Amazon App store.
