Imagine one day buying an Android smartphone not through Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile -- but with Google Wireless. That day could be coming soon.
Google (GOOGL, Tech30) will start selling cell phone service along with its Android phones, according to multiple news reports. This has been a long time coming.
I wonder if Google Cell phone service would be very affordable, or even free by occasionally watching a video ad,viewing a banner ad, or completing a surveys.
Hopefully, the service will offer unlimited data, minutes, and text.
I think it is always good to have more choice in cell phone service since it lets the consumer easily find a service which is best for them, or switch to a different service if they are unhappy with their current cell phone service provider like AT&T.
I think it is also possible that some or all Google Android smartphones will soon come with some free cellular data for Google Voice, Hangouts, YouTube and Chrome like how some Google Chromebook laptops like the Samsung Chromebook sold in the US come with 100MB of free data per month from Verizon. The 100 MB of free data per month is good for casual internet users who mostly check e-mail when they are not using Wi-Fi or wired internet.
Google is becoming everything, but considering how awful american wireless is compared with the rest of the world, I can only welcome this. More competition = better service
