Google is building Chrome OS User Interface straight into Windows 8 with Chrome Launcher

Google unveiled its Chrome Apps initiative recently to launch apps that exist outside of the browser and extend its reach into more of a platform, but it looks like the company has a whole lot more planned. Over the past few weeks, Google has been updating its developer version of the Chrome browser to run what's essentially Chrome OS within Windows 8's "Metro" mode.

Chrome OS in Windows 8 Metro mode looks pretty good, and easier to use for people who did not learn how to use Windows 8 on a non-touchscreen PC. I bet Google making a Chrome OS Skin program for Windows 8 may make more people upgrade to Windows 8 to use this because Chrome OS is one of the fastest growing operating systems.

I wonder would Firefox also make a Firefox OS and other OS for Windows 8 PC when in Metro Mode.

I'm all for it. The more Google gets their hands into changing the way anything made by Microsoft works, it will only make it better.

google has their hand in everything, that is an issue for a search company.

Anyways, I wonder how badly the Steam OS will affect the chrome OS?

At least, people will no longer need to use Bing in Internet Explorer to search up "How to install Google, and Chrome" in Windows 8 if companies like HP, Toshiba, and Dell also install Chrome OS as an alternative desktop on Windows 8. I bet Chrome OS would also be coming to Apple Mac, and Linux, so people using Chrome in Windows would have the same experience in Mac, and Linus.

Plus, people no longer need to buy Chromebooks to use Chrome OS since it would be possible to use the Chrome User Interface in Windows 8, so people can use Chrome OS for surfing the web, doing homework, and use Windows 8 for playing Windows games, MS Office, and IM chat programs like YIM.

I think Steam OS won't affect Chrome OS much since people who use Chrome OS, use it for the Chrome Web browser and Chrome Apps on a cheap $199-249 Laptop while Steam OS will mostly be installed on more expensive gaming desktops and laptops which cost between $500-1000.

Yes, it can decrease Chromebook sales. But ,the cheapest Windows 8 Netbooks usually cost $325 and more while the cheapest Chromebook which is the Acer C7 Chromebook cost $199 on Amazon.com , so people who just want the cheapest laptop they can buy may still pick a Chromebook. In the long run, it may increase Chromebook sales since some people who bought a computer with Windows 8 with Chrome OS may find out they rarely use Windows, so their next laptop will be a cheaper $199 Chromebook.

I think Chrome OS being offered to Windows 8 user is a good alternative for people who don't have the time, and computer skills to downgrade to Windows 7 or XP, but still want a regular desktop similar to Windows 7 without the need to downgrade to an older Windows OS on their new PC.
