A little over two months ago, we reported on rumors that Google was developing their own tablet device. The Chromium development team offered mock-up animations of what touch-screen navigation would look like on Chrome OS. Now it appears Google really is working on a tablet device to go head-to-head with the iPad, but it won't be running Chrome.
The New York Times reports that Eric Schmidt, Google's chief executive, spoke about the device at a recent private party. Instead of Chrome, the Google tablet will run Android exclusively. People working on the still-under-wraps device say the company is already testing delivery of e-books, magazines, and other media.
