This is a pretty cheap, and cool way of powering a old laptop with a broken battery since those replacement batteries are expensive. I guest this could be useful if your laptop charger dies since if you use rechargeable AA batteries once your AA batteries are running low on power, you can just recharge them with your AA battery charger which is a lot cheaper then a laptop power adapter/charger.
