The first Halo game to not feature the iconic Master Chief, titled Halo Wars, now has a firm release date of March 3, 2009 here in the States. Interestingly enough, despite the US of A being the series' most profitable market, it's actually the last of three planned launches around the world. Japan and Asia Pacific get Halo Wars on February 26 and Europe, the Middle East and Africa will see it launch a day later on February 27.
Preorders have begun for Halo Wars and those who enlist early will get an exclusive in-game Warthog replete with decal flames on its sides. The Limited Collector's Edition of Halo Wars is also available for a twenty dollar markup from the standard $59.99 and comes with an in-game "Honor Guard" Covenant Wraith, a graphic novel, six Leader cards, and a "Spirit of Fire" patch. Those who fork over the twenty extra bucks will also get exclusive early access to the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack.
Halo Wars, both Limited and Regular Editions, hit stateside on March 3.
