In an announcement heralding the 1 millionth copy of Halo Wars sold worldwide, publisher Microsoft confirmed that it is working with former Ensemble Studios developers on more content for the real-time strategy game. Microsoft claims that Halo Wars brisk opening sales make its Xbox 360 exclusive the "best selling real-time strategy game on any current generation console."
Robot Entertainment, comprised of former of Ensemble developers, said in a news release last month that it would continue to support Halo Wars in addition to creating its own original game.
The official Halo Wars web site has also launched a statistics tracking page that tallies up-to-date info on all the games played so far. According to the site, 1.8 million online multiplayer games have been played to date, with more than 6.6 million players joining in the fight. The site also breaks stats down by map and even shows in-depth info on a game currently being played over Xbox Live. Just think, you could be famous. So far, the UNSC has proven to be the more popular faction for online play, having been used 4.4 million times compared to the Covenant's 2.3 million.
