One has to wonder why Microsoft never pushed forward for a handheld to complete with Sony's PSP or Nintendo's DS series, they did think about it with some concept art and a name called Xboy. However they merely focused on their console which was good as Nintnedo ruled the handheld market and the emerging mobile market would have most likely crushed Xboy.

Stupid name. Apparently they were also going to call Xbox 360 the Xbox 3, they didn't want to call it Xbox 2 (even though it was their second console) due to fear it would look like it was a generation behind in comparison to the PlayStation 3 - yet they call the new console Xbox One :P

They don't half make some strange name decisions.

Xboy? Just wait until the feminists start protesting about gender discrimination...

Well its never coming out so nothing to bite at really.

I would love to be apart of one of their meetings really.

That's correct, but the reason they changed it to the 'One' is because it was to state that it was an All-In-One console that did everything you would need for entertainment purposes and you wouldn't need a single other device in your living room.

As for the 'Xboy' I don't think they would call it that for the simple fact that it's way too close to home for Nintendo and I feel there would be some issues.

I think they never got into a handheld because Nintendo has pretty much ruled in that market. They were smart enough to see that Nintendo was beating Sony in that area of gaming and probably didn't want to end up in the same situation.

Xboy is not a very original name, but I feel there are worse names which are not as memorable like companies which use numbers and a few letters or short words.

Gamers usually know that Microsoft's consoles have an X as the first letter of the name.
