I used to get mental blocks while gaming when I used to game 10+ hours a day. I would lose focus and not be able to concentrate on what I was doing, and I ended up having to take a break and do something else. How about you? Have you ever had a mental block while gaming?

I remember when I was in a difficult situation, I would use gaming as a way to block out things that were happening and that often led to me having some crazy gaming hours in one sitting and it would cause a mental block.

I am now away from that situation and I work from home now so that doesn't happen as often now.

Sometimes I feel that in competitive games like Pokemon Scarlet and Smash Ultimate in competitive play. But that's really only if the other player is in flow state and I am thinking of only using specific moves because I like to use them.

Like mentioned, if you get one, you've been gaming too long.
That used to be a huge problem for me. Which is why it's been 2.5+ months since I last played video games. I have my life back now, and I am afraid if I try and game again, It's going to make me game 70+ hours again. I think I need a little more time for recovery before I am ready to try gaming again.

I remember playing for a few hours but also having to leave the older Nintendo on or we'd lose our spot. It was before they gave you the code or you could "save" your progress.

All it would take for a save function without a code prompt is a battery in the cart. But a lot of game progress used to be tied to single playthroughs and leaving a console plugged in.
