Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone of you ever played at Tekken series? Which of the ones did you like most? What is/was your favourite character? For me the best one is Tekken 5, mainly because of the storyline that amazed me when I first played the game. The character I like most is Kazuya, a freaking badass character! Apart from its combos and movements that are super fantastic I like also how he behave during the story. So what's your opinon?

I think I played the 3rd and 4th game, but I'm not a huge fan of the series but I do like some of the characters.

I played the shit out of Tekken 3 and 4 back then. Played some Tekken 5 and Tekken Tag too but ignored Tekken 6 almost completely. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 reinvigorated my love for the franchise, but I still rarely play it because I have a shitty internet connection and noone to play with locally... the AI is pretty good though, which is kind of rare in fighting games.

Is it worth playing at Tekken TT2 ? I heard not really good voices about it, like often the game freezes and you have to reboot the game and such but these are just voices I heard as I have never tryed the game by myself.

I tried out the demo of the third one I believe, but I was never really a fan of it or the series.

I was much more into Soul Caliber. Same concept as Tekken but, I don't know, it just felt a better game for me. The story mode was pretty good too.

I've never heard anything about that and it never freezes for me on either 360 or PS3. The people who claim it freezes might have faulty consoles...

Have I played it? Hell, it was one of the games I bought with my PS1 at launch back in the day. I've played off and on in the arcades.

But I've owned EVERY Tekken Playstation game release.

I really didn't start playing Tekken until the PS3 age. So I missed a good portion of the games. But I've played some so that counts right :)

I first played Tekken 2 and was quite good and had good graphics but the controls of the characters at times were not that good and had good stories in the game Heihachi was evil and not a trustworthy guy and his pet Kuma was a thug working for him. Tekken 3 improved the graphics and also there was a beach ball mode, which was nice and interesting to play and me and my cousins would spend hours playing this game. Tekken 5 is the best one as you get more stories and also the game feels more realistic and the devil jin mode was interesting, to play and JIn is in it who  is my favourite character in the game and powerful as well.

I still have most of my Tekken game discs. Even looking at this topic is making me wish my old Playstation 1 worked so I can mess with Tekken 3 again.

As a Playstation mega-fan (self proclaimed) Tekken was one of the games I literally built my libraries off of. PS1, my first game was Tekken, PS2, my firt game was Tekken Tag Tournament.

I couldn't exactly do that with the PS3 since Tekken wasn't a launch game for it. But if it was, I'd have had that first.

I didn't fully get into Tekken until the first Tag Tournament game in the arcades. I had been missing out was the first thing that came to mind when I thought of all the past Tekken games I never bothered to touch.

I've mostly played tekken 5 and a bit of tag later on.  I've always been terrible at fighting games though!

I remember playing tekken as a kid, one of the very early games in the series but I'm not a great lover of that genre of game. Mortal kombat was also another one that was popular that I could never really get into.

What is it about the tekken series that proved so popular? For a game title to still be going strong after all this time, what's it's secret?

It's fun? It also has a very lively competitive scene, which helps a lot to keep the franchise alive, but casual players love Tekken too due to the relatively easier and more intuitive controls. I think that's one of the big factors that keep it alive. Tekken is pretty easy to get into once you know the buttons are Left Punch, Right Punch, Left Kick and Right Kick. It's much more intuitive than Street Fighter's Light/Medium/Heavy Punches and Kicks, since you can learn combos by remembering how the character moves. It also has almost no "quarter circle" style of inputs.

So yeah, the competitive scene has kept it alive and the ease to get into the game has definitely helped make it rather popular among more casual players.

I have played the first Tekken, I think. It was pretty fun. I played it with a couple of friends competitively. I found it to be more fun then Street Fighter, but less so then Mortal Kombat. But that is not really a surprise, as MK is the King of fighting games, in my opinion.
