No, I have never upgraded the wi-fi adapter or wired networking adapter or PCI card on my computers because my Internet Connection max speed is around 15 Mbps download, and 5 Mbps upload, so I would never reach the maximum speed limit of my wifi or wired network adapter when using my home internet connection.

My home is also not big, so my built-in wifi card on my laptops are good enough at getting a good wifi signal from my wifi router.

I've never gone and messed with anything like this, I might one day in the future.

I bet, users who use a very fast internet connection like Google Fiber need to upgrade their PC's wired or wireless network card or adapter on their PC or laptop to get the full download speed, fast dns lookup, and fast pings of a high performance internet connection like Google Fiber, and not get slowed down by a slow network card.
