Honestly homeschooling is so much better so you can get individualized attention, and better education. You do lose a social aspect of it though. Which do you think is better?
I think if you can find a good tutor/teacher, or your parent has teaching or tutoring experience home schooling can be pretty good. One of my teachers said a lot of home school students also go on field trips, and other meet ups once in a while to learn social skills.
I think with cell phones, instant messaging, the internet, clubs, volunteering, etc, home school students can have active social lives by organizing meet up events with other students.
Some students also work as child actors, singers, or perform away from home which won't make regular school work for them because of time and location changes.
I saw on Ellen that a teenage girl has her own business where she collects junk during the day, and does school work in the evening at home school, and she saved up enough money to buy a small house which she rents out to people yo live in.
A lot of parents use public schools like day care or baby sitting, so they can go out, and work while their kids go to school. I always hear stories of parents struggling to find daycare or activities for kids to do when there is a teacher strike, or during summer, winter, and spring vacation when there is no school.
both have benefits but I feel you should only do home schooling if you happen to know a lot of local kids. Otherwise if your a shut in and getting home schooling you may have social problems.
If you only consider the education part, the yeah homeschooling is better. But overall public schooling is the best option to me since you get to interact with other people. And I don't think it would be easy for a homeschooled kid to meet other people his age that way. True, some might be extrovert enough to go out and meet people after their classes, but most wont since they basically never had this form of contact.
The YMCA, Community Recreation Centre, boy sqouts, Army cadets, swimming pool and sports like Karate, dancing, and teams/leagues like Little Legue Baseball are good places to meet people on the weekend.
Homeschooling also have other benifits like better lunches which are more nutritious and taste better since school lunches sometimes use fat meat, and ingredients to cook their food compared to a home cook meal.
There are pro's and con's to both sides of this issue.
At home schooling, you can get more personalized attention/education than you'll probably see in a public school. However, you don't get the socialization that you'd find in a public school. Kids that are home schooled would have to find extracurricular activities to do so they can socialize with other kids that may be close to their age. Otherwise, that child will end up with problems at some point because of lack of socialization.
At public schooling, kids are going to be more engaged with other people their own age when you compare to home schooling. However, I think more parents are turning to home schooling because of the increased school shootings and other problems that seem to be occurring within society in recent years.
I feel home schooling is becoming more popular choice for parents who are concerned about safety at a school. Sometimes misbehaving students bring a weapon like a knife to school to start a fight. Some kids also may use Karate and wrestling moves like throwing another smaller student on the floor during a fight.
"PHOENIX — A body slam and a broken elbow. This is what happened to one Valley 15-year-old who says a teacher sent him to the hospital after an alleged assault."
Some student's parents can also abuse other students, teachers, and other parents.
If I could choose between both I would definitely go for a home school. It's much better in my opinion as you get much more attention from the teacher, better education, don't have to travel and what not.
I feel home schooling would also be better for the earth's environment, and safer since there is no chance of being kidnapped or involve in a car or bus crash while traveling to school when you are home schooled.
A lot of gas is used to transport students, teachers, and school workers like the principal to school.
There will be fewer traffic jams from parents who drive their kids to schools, high school students who drive themselves to school, school workers who drive to school, and the many school buses which carry hundreds to thousands of students and school workers to school.
A lot of schools are also older, so they may need to use a lot of gas and electricity to properly heat, and cool the school, and run the lights in a school.
