It looks amazing, especially in 4K. I haven't played the first one but I might have to get it so that I can get this when it comes out on the PS5. The underwater gameplay was just outstanding <3

Sony has delayed Horizon Forbidden West until next year, Bloomberg reports. Originally scheduled to arrive this holiday season, the big PlayStation console exclusive will now come out sometime in the first quarter of 2022.

While game delays have been common throughout the last year thanks to the pandemic, it’s not immediately clear if that’s what’s holding up Horizon Forbidden West.

“Covid-19 has caused production challenges, forcing developers to work from home for months, but the pandemic has also provided a cover for developers to bump games that were facing obstacles regardless,” Bloomberg writes,
 
Not too surprised. I presume they want it to be perfect, especially for the PS5 so that it takes the world by storm.

officially delayed now:

Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Guerrilla Games have delayed Horizon Forbidden West from its previously planned holiday 2021 release window to February 18, 2022. It will be available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Pre-orders will open on September 2.


“While the decision to move the game’s launch to 2022 certainly wasn’t easy, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our fans for their unwavering support,” said game director Mathijs de Jonge on PlayStation Blog. “We know how much you’ve been looking forward to reuniting with Aloy and her friends, continuing her story, and exploring a new and more dangerous world. Your passion, fan art, cosplay, virtual photography, and videos have meant the world to all of us.”

Game will have free upgrade from Ps4 version to ps5:

Thursday was to be a celebration of Horizon Forbidden West and the amazing team at Guerrilla working to deliver it on February 18, 2022. However, it’s abundantly clear that the offerings we confirmed in our pre-order kickoff missed the mark.
Last year we made a commitment to deliver free upgrades for our cross-gen launch titles, which included Horizon Forbidden West. While the pandemic’s profound impact pushed Forbidden West out of the launch window we initially envisioned, we will stand by our offer: Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.
I also want to confirm today that moving forward, PlayStation first-party exclusive cross-gen titles (newly releasing on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5)–both digital and physical*–will offer a $10 USD digital upgrade option from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5. This will apply to the next God of War and Gran Turismo 7, and any other exclusive cross-gen PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 title published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

I don't mind the $10 upgrade price for the future titles considering that the titles are usually different on the PS5 with the haptics and additional features (on some games anyway).
 
Forbidden west trailer looks the kind of game PS5 users will be ecstatic to get rolling over. I am a PS4 user but the trailer for the 'Horizon really attracted my attention, I am in love for its astonishing gameplay via the trailer posted.
