I think some discount stores buy electronics from bankrupt stores and failing electronics factories which sold their unsold products at very low prices to discount stores like Dollar stores and Walmart, so these discount stores can sell electronics like USB chargers, and headphones for low prices like $1

Other thing is that things could have been made with cheap cables etc.

That is true they can be made with cheap cables and other parts. But, there are some things like plastic smartphone cases where the quality difference between a $1 smartphone case and $10 case is about the same.

I think many of the cheap electronics at a dollar store like headphones with a weird design failed to attract buyers when it price was $10 at a store like Walmart, so the original store decided to sell all their unsold headphones to the dollar store for a cheaper prices like $0.50 per headphones to the Dollar store to re-sell for $1 to shoppers.

Sometimes store owners and the electronic factories make poor decisions, and decide to sell and make too many electronics like Bluetooth Fidget Spinner speakers which fewer shoppers want to buy now that the Fidget Spinner fad is over.

If you're buying that stuff for $1, then you know you're getting junk. Though you can be a store like Staples, sell them for $20 or more and still be junk.

This is true many $1 stuff is junk. A lot of expensive products can be junk these days, and cost a lot to fix compared to a cheaper product.

Some low quality items can be good enough for basic tasks. I think if you need a pair of basic 3.5mm headphones for using on a School desktop PC to listen to audio, $1 headphones are okay for listening to more basic video and audio files like school videos about math, English, and science.

Cheap USB cables can be okay for using to connect a printer to a PC because printers don't usually need a fast cable for data transfer like a USB Flash drive.
