How come New Super Mario Bros 2 has so many snake blocks?

You know, the moving trails of blocks that follow a set pattern. I swear, they seem to be in every single tower shown in the game so far, as well as sky levels, random grass levels, sunset levels...

Is there some gimmick Nintendo is planning with them that explains how common they are here? Because in Super Mario World and the past two New Super Mario Bros games, they only appeared in two levels per game.

In case you're wondering, this is a snake block:

Maybe them being a pain in the ass is the point. Obviously, getting all those coins will lead to getting lives all over the place. Maybe they're adding those because they know they're a challenge and they don't want the game to be too easy?

That does seem like a plausible hypothesis, though if it's true that's kinda lazy. Just repeating the same difficult obstacle over and over again that is.

The reason I think they are a pain in the ass is that I always liked to explore levels, but I can't do so when I have to be so fast. That's pretty much the reason for why I hate the levels which move the camera sideways all the way..

That's almost a deal breaker. I mean I couldn't beat Super Mario World because of the snake blocks in I think it was Larry's castle. It was castle 7 I think. The one before Bowser. I mean I, as I'm pretty sure everyone as well, hate snake blocks. I mean they're not hard, they're just annoying.

For the love of God, Nin3DS! "Every single tower"? Has it EVER freaking occurred, that there has only EVER been ONE, or maybe TWO Towers shown from the game? Has the possibility ever crossed your mind?

Just because there's a "lot" of clips of Tower levels, it doesn't mean they are necessarily different tower levels.

Well, I thinks it's nice to see them again! After all, They only appeared in one level in NSMBWii, and they were frozen.
Also, yes, they have been seen a lot in the trailers, but in a completely different way of how they've been used in past games.
Now, instead of using them for the whole level to get from point A to point B, they appear as small snakes, moving on a fixed route

Apparently Nintendo's running out of ideas.

It would obviously make levels sightly more challenging.
