How did Black and White 2 really screw up difficulty levels?

No seriously, the descriptions of how to unlock assist and challenge mode are ridiculous. You have to beat the whole game at least once, or get someone to trade you the item to unlock them. Oh wait, Assist Mode is only in Pokemon White 2 and Challenge Mode is only in Pokemon Black 2 by default...

How does that make sense? Having to beat a game to make it easier? Doesn't that kill the point a bit?

You only need to get someone else to send them to you for the one not in your game. You don't need any outside assistance to get Assist Mode in White 2 or Challenge Mode in Black 2, you just need to beat the champion.
 
Does this mean that we can challenge the trainers and leaders again? Or is this a hero mode (like zelda) in which your game gets deleted and re-started?
 
Incorrect, Kunino. I only unlocked the Challenge Mode after beating it.

It means their pokemon have higher levels.

Incorrect, wsoxfan. You can give any friend a different difficulty they do not already have. While the only way to unlock them on your own is by beating the game, they can still be given by friends. You can actually start your first game on your first playthrough on a different difficulty setting if you just link up to a friend.

Hmm this is intresting one of my friends has the jap version of black 2 to on a card I forgot what the ds card is called does anyone know if he will be able to transfer the hard difficulty to me?

Also I think this is a bit screwed up but it promotes more friend interaction which is what nintendo wants I just wish instead of needing black and whte 2 for these difficulties you could have used the normal black and white much easier for those who want to start on easy or hard on their first playthrough.

Like I said, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO TRADE WITH A FRIEND.

That's what both Kunino and I said, as well as what was written on the source website provided in the first post. They are not random. You can only get one per version ON YOUR OWN, but you can get both extra modes simply by connecting to anyone else with the game who has unlocked a different difficulty mode.
